DSG service history missing on a Tiguan I'm looking at, is that a hard pass or just normal here?
There's a 2019 Tiguan SEL that popped up on an expat sale group near JVC and the price is actually really decent considering the mileage is under 80k but when I asked the lady about the DSG service records she looked at me like I had two heads and just said her husband always took it to some garage in Satwa for the oil changes and that was it. The car drove smooth enough during the test drive around the community, shifts felt okay and the AC was ice cold which is obviously priority number one out here, but I know these dual clutch gearboxes can turn into a financial nightmare if the fluid hasn't been swapped on schedule and I'm really not trying to be the guy who finds out the mechatronic unit is on its way out while merging onto Al Khail Road. My last car was a boring but bulletproof Corolla so I'm a bit out of my depth with the whole German maintenance thing and I'm trying to decide if I should just walk away or see if I can knock some money off the price to cover a proper checkup. I was doing some reading last night and saw there's a Volkswagen Car Inspection Service Dubai (https://prepurchasecarinspection.ae/brands/volkswagen/) that apparently does a deep scan of the transmission control module to check for any hidden clutch slip codes or overheating history which sounds like exactly what I need before I commit. Anyone here bought a used VW with a foggy service past and actually had it turn out fine or is this one of those situations where you just run and don't look back?
