Yes, it's definitely possible to learn the fundamentals of game design in a year if you stay consistent and build a strong portfolio, but getting into a AAA studio right away can still be very competitive. Most studios care more about practical skills, completed projects, and problem-solving ability than just a degree. A lot of people focus on structured learning programs and hands-on experience the same way industries rely on organized systems like heavy duty racking solutions to handle complex warehouse operations efficiently. If you spend those 12 months creating playable levels, learning engines like Unreal or Unity, and collaborating on small projects, you'll have a much better chance of landing an entry-level role or indie studio position first.
